SIALKOT: The administration of Sialkot International Airport has rejected reports claiming that a Qatar Airways flight from Doha landed in Jammu, Indian-administered Kashmir, calling the reports false and misleading.
According to the airport administration, the Qatar Airways flight from Doha landed at Sialkot International Airport early on September 27 and later departed for Doha according to its scheduled operation.
Sialkot International Airport spokesperson Muhammad Umair Khan said a technical issue and inaccurate GPS data in the private flight-tracking software FlightRadar24 caused the aircraft to appear at an incorrect location.
He said the Qatar Airways flight from Doha landed at Sialkot International Airport in Pakistan, not in Jammu, India.
Khan added that the flight’s landing at Sialkot could also be verified through the Pakistan Airports Authority’s radar system.
According to the spokesperson, the technical issue in FlightRadar24 was visible in the tracking data, which showed the aircraft repeatedly circling over the same area.
