WASHINGTON; U.S. Vice President JD Vance confirmed on Thursday that the United States is investigating reports of an alleged military strike on a wedding in Iran, which Iranian authorities claim killed four people. However, Vance expressed strong skepticism regarding the accuracy of Tehran’s account.
“I know that we’re investigating,” Vance told reporters during a White House briefing.
He cautioned against taking initial reports from Iranian officials at face value. “I will say that the Iranian state media has not been a very good scribe about what’s happened in the conflict thus far. So I’m extremely skeptical of this,” Vance added.
The investigation comes amid ongoing military operations and heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with Washington maintaining a cautious approach toward casualties reported by state-run media in Tehran.
