PTI’s Aun Abbas Bappi Signals Conditional Support for 28th Amendment

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aun Abbas Bappi has said the party may consider conditional support for the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment if the government takes serious steps towards creating new provinces.

Speaking about the party’s position, Bappi said PTI’s manifesto called for creating as many provinces as there are administrative divisions in the country. He added that people in Hazara and South Punjab were particularly sensitive about the issue.

Bappi said negotiations could take place if the government was serious about establishing new provinces. He added that PTI could consider supporting the 28th Amendment conditionally, with the matter also discussed during the party’s parliamentary meeting.

He stressed that the party would have to assess what concessions it could secure in return, saying negotiations could proceed on a give-and-take basis.

However, Bappi made it clear that PTI could not support the proposed amendment without consulting party founder Imran Khan, whose opinion would be final.
