BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping has proposed a four-point framework to achieve a comprehensive, fair, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue, describing the conflict as the core pillar of Middle East stability.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Beijing, President Xi emphasized that any sustainable resolution must be grounded in political settlement, the principle of “Palestinians governing Palestine,” humanitarian principles, and international justice.
Outlining the four guiding principles, President Xi stated:
-
Political Settlement via Two-State Solution: Peace talks between Palestine and Israel must resume promptly under the framework of a two-state solution to pave the way for an independent Palestinian state.
-
Palestinian Self-Governance: The post-war administration of the West Bank and the reconstruction of Gaza must adhere strictly to the principle of “Palestinians governing Palestine.”
-
Humanitarian Protection & Unhindered Aid: The international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, must fulfill its mandate to ensure civilian protection, secure unhindered humanitarian access, and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
-
International Law & Rule of Justice: Lasting peace requires upholding international law, addressing the root causes of the conflict, and implementing concrete steps to deliver equity for the Palestinian people.
