Obama Says US Voters Have Chosen Unity Over Division After Midterm Election Results

Former US President Barack Obama has said American voters have sent a message in favour of unity over division following the midterm election results.

In a statement posted on X, Obama said voters wanted politics that brought people together rather than driving them apart. He added that Americans expected their leaders to offer practical solutions to the challenges facing the country.

Obama said the current US administration still had two years left in office and must take concrete steps to prevent further damage.

His remarks came after Democrats made gains against Republicans in the US midterm elections, with President Donald Trump’s party losing its majority in both chambers of Congress.

Trump has acknowledged the election results and said he would work with Democrats.
