Web Desk; Israel is facing potential political deadlock as official vote counting continues. With the vast majority of ballots tallied, neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor his main rival, former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, have secured a clear path to the 61 seats needed for a governing majority in the 120-seat Knesset.
Official tallies show neither camp within immediate reach of a parliamentary majority, signaling prolonged coalition negotiations or potential instability.
Finalizing the vote count is expected to take several days. Current projections place Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc at 54 seats—a notable drop from the 68-seat coalition he led in the outgoing Knesset. However, his Likud party remains positioned as the largest single party in parliament.
Opposition parties opposed to Netanyahu hold a competitive share of the projections, though they remain fractured across the political spectrum. To oust Netanyahu, anti-Netanyahu factions would likely need to bridge deep political divides and coordinate with Arab parties, which saw a surge in voter turnout.
