“Video Harasser” Of Woman Turns Out To Be A Senate Legislative Officer

The rogue harasser, who was spotted filming a woman without her consent in Islamabad, has turned out to be a Senate official. A case has been registered against the senate employee Rana Azhar, who was caught red-handed harassing a woman outside an ATM a few days ago.

The video of the incident, which took place in Islamabad a few days ago, had gone viral on social media. In the video, a woman can be seen lashing out at a man for filming her without consent. When the woman confronts him and asks to show the video, the man starts apologizing and flees the scene.

The federal capital’s police has taken notice of the incident and a case of harassment of women has been registered against the senate official. In the first information report (FIR), the affected woman stated that she was using an ATM in Islamabad when the person started recording a video of her.

“I asked the person why he was shooting the video. At this, the man admitted that he was filming me and made a run for it,” the woman said in the FIR.

Meanwhile, Senate has revealed the details of the video maker. Rana Azhar Siddique, is a Grade 18 officer who works as deputy director in the legislative branch of the Senate.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has taken a personal notice of the issue and Azhar has been suspended for four months. An inquiry to look further into the matter has also been set.

According to the notification signed by Section Officer Zahoor Ahmed, the Deputy Director has been suspended for four months under Rule 5 (1) (2) of the Civil Servants Efficiency and Discipline Rules 2020.

Kohsar police station registered a case against the accused under anti-harassment provisions. The police say that more facts will come to light after interrogation.
