Paratha-Making Boxer Makes It To Russia and Wins Bronze Medal for Pakistan

Pakistani kick-boxer Nisar Ahmed Khan has won a bronze medal in the International Kickboxing Competition held in Moscow, Russia. Nisar bagged bronze by beating Tajikistan’s boxer in the 3rd position match of 52kg category.

Earlier, when he got selected for the International Kick-Boxing Championship in Russia, he couldn’t even afford to pay his travel expenses. Nisar used to work at a food stall in Karachi where he made Rs. 18,000 a month by making parathas.

Things took a positive turn for Nisar when a vlogger named Hassan Baig interviewed Nisar and shared his story on social media. Nisar explained in the interview that he needed approximately Rs. 2,50,000 to make it to the international championship.

Nisar’s efforts paid off and the interview went viral after which many social blogging websites, including The Blindside, covered his story and appealed to support the talented boxer. Finally, a federal minister announced to sponsor Nisar while many citizens also offered to help him.

Thanks to Nisar’s unshakeable resolution and the power of social media, he arrived in the Russian capital on November 19, to represent Pakistan in the kickboxing competition.

Overall 3 players of the Pakistan kick-boxing team participated in the championship and all three Pakistani players defeated their opponents to win medals. Two players, Syed Mohammad and Nawroz Ali, qualified for the final.

Syed Mohammad won the gold medal in the 64kg category by defeating his opponent. Nowruz Ali bagged a silver medal in the 56 kg category while Nisar Ahmed won a bronze medal in the 52kg category.

A humble Nisar took to his Facebook page after the win and thanked his supporters.

“Alhamdullillah, in International kickboxing championship Moscow, got a Bronze medal for Pakistan. Thank you so much all friends for supporting me,” Nisar posted on Facebook.

Nisar Ahmed is also a boxing champion at the national level and has won countless medals in the 52kg welterweight category. Nisar has many major titles like All-Sindh, All-Balochistan and All-Karachi under his belt and has won a total of 35 national medals, certificates and belts.
