Pakistani-American Woman’s Murder Mystery Solved, Husband Arrested

Wajiha Swati, a Pakistani-American who was abducted two months ago from Rawalpindi, has been confirmed dead by the police. Swati had gone missing from the Morgah area of ​​Rawalpindi in October after arriving in Islamabad from London.

Police has arrested Rizwan Habib, the victim’s ex-husband, who confessed to killing Wajiha during interrogation. Her body was recovered from the backyard of a house in the Lakki Marwat area of ​​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details, the victim’s eldest son, Abdullah, registered a complaint with police on November 2, after his mother went missing on October 16. The police started efforts for the release of the abductee and the investigation of the case was carried out in several cities.

After a thorough examination of all the evidence, the police teams arrested the accused Rizwan Habib who confessed his crime during the interrogation. The accused had kidnapped and then killed his ex-wife Swati to confiscate her property and bank balance.

Accused Rizwan made several spine-chilling revelations during the interrogation. The accused said that his father told him to kill his ex-wife as it would “cost only Rs 50,000 to kill Wajiha.”

The accused further told police that Wajiha’s body was hidden in a car’s trunk and taken to a close relative’s house in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and buried in his room. He intended to go to Poland for asylum and citizenship after the murder for which he had also obtained a passport.

46-year-old Wajiha Swati had been living in the United States for many years and had come to Pakistan for only four days. She is survived by three sons; the eldest son, aged 22, who is currently in the United States, and two sons, aged 15 and 10, are temporarily residing in their aunt’s home in the United Kingdom.

Wajiha’s lawyer Shabnam Awan says the victim used to come to Pakistan almost every year. Her first husband, a heart specialist, was also murdered in Pakistan in 2014 in alleged targeted killing.
