Pakistani-born British boxer Amir Khan was taken off a US flight for allegedly not covering his face properly with a mask. As per the reports, the police was called to remove him from the plane of American Airlines along with his companion.
After the incident, Aamir Khan posted a video on Twitter in which he says that he was going to a training camp in Colorado after staying in New York when he came across this ‘offensive’ behavior. Former World Walterweight champion Aamir Khan also said that it was the police who dropped him off the plane.
According to the 34-year-old boxer, someone complained that his friend did not cover his face properly with a mask upon which the airline removed them both.
“The mask on my partner’s face was not high enough. So they stopped the plane and dropped me and my friend off even though I had done nothing wrong,” Amir explained in the Twitter video.
Amir has accused the airline’s staff for complaining against him. He says it was done for no reason and it is very offensive that American Airlines banned him from traveling.
“I am going to the training camp by another plane now and it is very disturbing,” he added.
On the other hand, American Airlines has claimed that the Flight 700 from New York to Dallas Fort returned to the airport after two people refused to comply with the crew’s request to keep luggage, put cell phones in airplane mode and cover their faces.
“Our customer relations team is contacting Mr. Khan to learn more about his experience and to further strengthen the importance of the policies we have put in place to protect our customers and staff,” the spokesman for the airline said.
However, the airline has denied that the police had to intervene in the incident. The airline also says that neither Aamir Khan nor his partner has been banned by the airline.
