Denying The Throne- Is Harry Still A Prince?

The toughest unprecedented decision Prince Harry took by stepping back from his royal duties resulting in the famous Megxit along with his wife Meghan Markel and son Archie stirred the followers with numerous speculations whether Harry is a shadow of his rebellious mother Lady Diana. Is he following his mother’s footsteps of skepticism towards royal privileges realizing how it could cost one’s spark and ultimately life? Is he enthused by her mother’s life struggles and her inclination towards people’s welfare? Has he preferred becoming the prince of people rather than the prince of Sussex as his mother transformed from princess of wales to princess of people?

Upon closer inspection, the two royals are extremely alike — a lot more than most realize. Take a look at the mannerisms, passions, and personality traits that the two share:

Unorthodox and cynical towards stereotyped norms

Prince Harry has been observed overstepping the royal protocols occasionally. For instance, he fell in love with Hollywood actress Meghan Markel while performing his royal duties and at his wedding, asking his brother Will to be his best man. Sneaking a look into his mother’s life, we saw her often being defiant from the royal norms and vocal about her choices. She chose her own engagement ring and ‘dared’ to write her wedding vows which revolved around her feminist perspectives.

Breaking free from the royal manacles

“There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” Diana famously told the BBC in 1995. Due to marital problems and paranoia she faced from her royal in-laws, Prince Charles and Diana got separated in 1992, and ultimately their divorce was finalized in 1996. Although she died a year later in a car accident as it was being chased by paparazzi, she surely died shackles free.

Deeply influenced by his mother’s constant skirmishes, miseries, the speculations that his wife Meghan Markel would be subjected to the same pressures as his mother and later the birth of his son Archie, Harry decided to take a step back from his royal duties. Like mother like son, Harry, at last, won his independence in March 2020.

Stark facial resemblance

Both of them have remarkable alikeness to each other’s’ facial features especially the way they smile, Twitterati has been enthusiastically finding their similarities for a long time now.

A habit of biting the lower lip!

One of the cutest things Harry did at his wedding was a way of admiring Meghan Markel as she walked down the aisle, he bit down on his lower lip and told her how beautiful she looked. Diana was also seen giving the same micro-expression on some instances as notified by Susan Constantine, a human behavioral expert.

Empathy towards sufferers.

“I would like to be a queen”, stated Diana in a TV interview but she wasn’t talking about taking control of the British throne. It was her people’s hearts that she wanted to invade and comfort with all the compassion she had in her heart.

She used her celebrity to raise awareness for several causes, from leprosy to domestic violence to mental health. She made headlines in 1987 when she intentionally shook hands with an AIDS patient, working to dispel the myth that HIV/AIDS could be spread through touch.

On the other hand, Harry had been following his mother’s footsteps. In an interview, he said that he always wanted to carry out Diana’s legacy to make her proud. He traveled and met people suffering from AIDS, consoled them, and offered them his unconditional support as his mother used to do. During the time when he was still a Duke, he was engaged with several organizations, including the Invictus Games Foundation, Rugby Football Union Injured Players Foundation, Sentebale, The Royal Foundation, and Well Child.

Straightforward and honest interviews.

Both of them have been bluntly vocal about their personal and social issues on media. Diana once gave an interview to BBC in which she discussed tremendously intimate issues of her life. She highlighted her scuffles regarding postpartum depression, the ordeal resulting from an extramarital affair of her husband Charles, and how her marriage was characterized by disorderly commotion; mental and emotional agitation. Harry has also been very truthful with journalists before, like when he talked to reporters about “pursuing counsel” and persistent “two years of turmoil” after Diana’s death.

Both have raised awareness about landmines.

In 1997, Diana headed to Angola to protest the use of landmines. To bring attention to the issue, she risked her own safety and walked through a cleared minefield. By 2013, Harry had visited minefields in Angola and Mozambique, and four years later joined the HALO Trust to advocate that all landmines be cleared by 2025.

Their utter love for Africa

Diana made a number of trips to Africa; she also got to meet Nelson Mandela during one of her trips. She contributed towards social work and collaborated with the Red Cross to facilitate the crippled and handicapped individuals of the continent. She also worked to remove the stigmatization of HIV AIDS patients and helped them to be recognized as normal human beings. Her work there became special to her, just as the continent has become a meaningful place for her son. In 1997, right after his mother’s death, Harry told Town & Country that he feels more like himself there “than anywhere in the world.” He has since visited several times, including with Meghan.

Affectionate towards children.

Harry has been seen as being very loveable to children. He has also inherited that trait from her mother as clearly felt in her old photos in which Diana is looking all playful, cheerful, and a fun mother while dealing with her kids.

The best people up-to-date!

If you still are unable to see the marvelous similarities between Harry and his mother Diana, just know that they both occupy a special place in people’s hearts due to their humbleness, the kind of genuine person they are, their charitable work, and down to earth personalities. They are truly the prince and princess of people.
