Another Medical Student Found Hanging From The Ceiling In Larkana

A medical student of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBU), Larkana, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room. Nosheen Kazmi, a fourth-year student, allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday.

Police have launched an investigation to find out the circumstances of Nosheen’s death. According to the police, two notes were found in the room, both of which had a similar message. The note found near the body read in Roman Urdu, “I’m going to hang out on my own, not under anyone’s pressure.”

Nosheen’s roommate said that she had gone out when the incident took place. When the roommate came back after two or three hours, the door of the room was locked from inside. She saw Nosheen’s body hanging from the ceiling after which the door was broken.

It should be noted that Nosheen Kazmi’s body hung from the fan for five to six hours till her parents arrived. According to a police spokesman, Nosheen’s fingerprints were found on the fan and she also had dust marks on her fingers.

On the other hand, Nosheen’s father  Hidayat Kazmi has dismissed his daughter’s post-mortem report which confirmed the suicide due to hanging. He said that his daughter was a religious and confident girl and she didn’t seem depressed when he spoke to her the previous night.

A large number of students gathered outside the hostel and chanted slogans against the university administration over Nosheen’s suicide which the suspect is a murder. Their leader said that the videos that have come to light do not suggest that this is a case of suicide.

Two years ago, a similar so-called suicide incident took place in Larkana. Nimrata Chandani from Mirpur Mathelo was a student of Asifa Bibi Dental College in Larkana whose body was recovered from room number three of a medical college hostel.

Nimrata’s death was said to be due to suffocation. However, his family refused to accept this justification and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter. An investigation was carried out but no report has been released to date.
