Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said the party is not planning to “destroy” Islamabad or launch an attack, insisting that its planned protest will remain peaceful.
Speaking about the party’s protest plans, Gohar said the clarification regarding the reference to “Somnath” had already been given and stressed that PTI workers would not be coming to Islamabad to create disorder.
He said protesters would carry Pakistani flags and described the gathering as a peaceful event, saying there would be an atmosphere similar to Eid.
Gohar said PTI would not take the law and order situation into its own hands and emphasized that “Islamabad comes first, Pakistan comes first, the state of Pakistan comes first, and the rights of the people come first.”
Questioning the treatment of PTI workers, he asked whether raising a voice for justice was not part of the democratic process.
Gohar said PTI had repeatedly sought relief through the courts, but claimed that hearings, court relief, implementation of orders, medical treatment and meetings were not taking place as the party expected.
He questioned why PTI workers were being treated like terrorists and said the party was not coming to Islamabad like terrorists.
Gohar also said that if those with the authority believed the situation required reconsideration, PTI was willing to cooperate.
