Prime Minister Again Invites Opposition to Meaningful Dialogue

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited the opposition to engage in meaningful negotiations, saying the government is ready to discuss all issues through dialogue and resolve differences through parliamentary and democratic forums.

Addressing a gathering, the prime minister said he was inviting opposition members to hold talks through the cabinet forum and assured that the government was prepared to listen to their concerns.

“I invite the opposition to hold talks through the cabinet forum. We are ready to negotiate with opposition members,” the prime minister said, adding that all issues could be resolved through dialogue.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the government would engage with the opposition in a purposeful manner, stressing that political differences should be addressed through negotiations rather than confrontation.

The prime minister also welcomed the significant reduction in the price of diesel and praised the Ministry of Petroleum and other members of the government team for their efforts in providing relief to the public.

He termed the Rs32-per-litre reduction in the price of diesel a positive development, saying the decrease was the result of collective efforts by the government team.

“We have taken several measures to achieve economic stability and are continuing our efforts to provide relief to the people,” he said.

Referring to the challenging regional and global economic environment, the prime minister said several countries in the region were facing serious energy-related difficulties, with some refineries and gas plants having been shut down.

Pakistan, he noted, had also faced significant energy challenges as an energy-importing country. However, he expressed optimism that the situation would improve further in the coming days.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government had allocated Rs128 billion for providing relief to the people during difficult circumstances, while the provinces had also extended considerable support for relief measures.

He added that developments in the international arena inevitably had an impact on Pakistan, but the government was taking measures to protect the economy and provide maximum relief to the people.

The prime minister reiterated that the government would continue pursuing economic stability, energy-sector reforms and public relief measures while seeking political consensus through dialogue.
