PML-N to Announce Policy on New Provinces When Debate Reaches Parliament: Rana Sanaullah Prim Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will announce its policy on the creation of new provinces when the issue is formally debated in Parliament.

Speaking to journalists in Lahore, Sanaullah said Parliament was the appropriate forum to discuss the matter, adding that the final decision on whether new provinces should be created would be taken by Parliament.

He said the PML-N was currently consulting on the issue and would formulate its position after hearing the views of all political parties and stakeholders. He added that the party would also consider the opinions of its district and union council workers.

Sanaullah said discussions on such an important national issue should not be limited to economic forums, seminars or social media, but should take place in Parliament where all political parties could present their positions.

He maintained that if the people wanted new provinces, the issue could not simply be ignored, but their wishes would have to be addressed through the constitutional and parliamentary process.

The adviser also said the issue had not yet been formally discussed in the federal cabinet. He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would issue appropriate directives once the matter was taken up through the proper forum.

The debate over new provinces gained momentum after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called for the creation of new administrative units, arguing that Pakistan’s growing population and changing needs require reforms to the existing administrative structure.

Sanaullah said the PML-N would give its formal position once the debate reaches Parliament.
