Pakistani actress Veena Malik has said that the government should have dress code boundaries for showbiz.
The bold and outspoken actress asked her fellow artists to present national culture in their work.
Talking to German state media, Veena Malik said that Pakistan is an independent country where people wear every type of clothes. The actress suggested the government to draw dress code boundaries for media industry.
“In our country people are wearing all kinds of clothes, girls are also free to wear all kinds of clothes but I think we should have a dress code for showbiz and the government should give that dress code and draw limits for artists,” Veena said.
Veena Malik also said that she worries about industries where there is no code of conduct and finds it “scary where artists wear anything.”
During the interview, the 37-year-old actress discussed various important issues in Afghanistan, including the Taliban and women’s clothing. Veena congratulated Taliban for establishing government in Afghanistan and said Afghanistan belongs to the hardliner group.
In response to a question, Veena expressed her desire to visit Kandahar province in Afghanistan and said that burqa is not a matter of concern for her as burqa is already a part of her life.
“I have been wearing a burqa since I was 13 years old. Even today I wear it when I go out. This is my choice because I feel safe,” Veena commented about dress code in Afghanistan.
