Amid the rising cases of Covid and emerging Omicron threat, Abu Dhabi has revised the entry rules to entre the emirate. Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee announced the updated entry requirements on Tuesday.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Tuesday reported 1,846 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 632 recoveries and 1 death. The total number of cases in UAE as on December 28 are 754,911, while total recoveries stand at 742,565. The death toll now stands at 2160.
The revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) require green pass for vaccinated individuals entering the Abu Dhabi from within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Those, who are not vaccinated, will need a negative PCR test result to get entry.
Green status on Alhosn App, UAE’s official app for contact tracing and health status related to COVID-19, will be required from people who are already vaccinated. Whereas, unvaccinated categories will ve asked to present a negative PCR test result received within 96 hours for entering the emirate from within the UAE.
According to the authorities, the new rules will be implemented from December 30. The current use EDE scanners, which collect electromagnetic waves within a 5-meter radius, will be also continued.
The new entry requirements are designed to continue promoting precautionary measures to protect health of the people. Earlier on Sunday, Abu Dhabi also instructed the venues hosting social events such as weddings, funerals and family gatherings to operate at 60 per cent maximum occupancy.
