A student in Karachi, who was expelled for non-payment of dues, has started selling potato chips outside his own school. A video of the 10-12 year old boy has gone viral on the social media in which he can be seen selling chips to his school mates.
According to the details, the boy was enrolled in a private school named Maria Public School located in Bhains Colony. The parents of the student had not paid the school fees due to financial restraints.
The administration said that the boy owed dues worth Rs 17,000 to the school. After he was expelled from the school, the boy started working at a chips stall outside the same school. The boy’s father also sells potato chips on a stall outside the school.
After the video of the student vent viral, netizens are calling out private school mafia for unjust treatment of the poor. Some are appreciating the boy’s hard work while other’s believe the real face of private school owners has been exposed.
A similar incident had taken place in Karachi in September when the staffers of a private school tortured a man before his son and then forced him out of the building. The man had allegedly been tortured for not paying the fees of his son who was also expelled from the school.
The provincial education department had taken notice of the incident and sent its officials to the private school, however, the administration refused to cooperate. Later, the school’s registration was canceled by Sindh education department.
