Religious Teacher Arrested For Blackmailing Minor Student With Her Personal Photos

In another harrowing incident, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a religious teacher (Qari) from Karachi for blackmailing a minor student and her family with her objectionable pictures.

Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime, Faizullah Korejo, said that an FIA team has arrested the accused after a successful raid at his residence in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi.

Korejo commended the “brave mother” who reported the crime to FIA. She told the agency that she had appointed a Qari for home tuition to teach the Holy Quran to her children. Later, her 13-year-old daughter complained that she has been subject to “physically abused” by the teacher.

The teenage girl also told her mother that the accused was in possession of her ‘obscene’ pictures of her on the basis of which he was blackmailing her.

The suspect also sent those pictures to her mother via WhatsApp and threatened to leak them online if his ‘unethical’ demands were not met.

Taking a bold and brave step, the mother registered a complaint with FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing. Taking prompt action on the complaint, the agency apprehended the suspect and confiscated his mobile and other gadgets.

“The recovered mobile phone was technically analyzed … obscene image of [the] victim/minor girl [was] found available on whose basis she was being blackmailed, harassed, threatened,” Korejo said.

He said that the teacher was booked under Sections 22 and 24 of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the minor victim is undergoing professional counseling sessions through a stress counselor to come out of the trauma.
