Here Is How Rawalpindi Women Can File A Harassment Report Online

Unfortunately, many female workers out there don’t have a clear understanding of workplace harassment, which is why it often goes unreported.

Harassment is any unwanted and unwelcome behavior that offends, humiliates, intimidates, or creates a hostile environment.  Harassment doesn’t have to be a sexual one, it can be of a verbal, physical, or psychological nature.

So, if you think you have been subject to harassment recently at your workplace, university, the home, marketplace, or anywhere else, and have been shying away from filing a complaint because of the fear of facing a male investigation officer or the fear of revealing your identity, then don’t. Because the Rawalpindi Police has set a special all-female Harassment Reporting Unit (HRU) for women to help them file such complaints without jeopardizing their identity.

Here is a quick guide on how to file a harassment complaint at the police station or online.

At the Police Station

  1. You even have an option to choose whether or not to visit the police station.
  2. If you, however, opt to visit the station, go directly to the Harassment Reporting Unit where a female staff member will attend to you.
  3. Lodge your complaint with them, and also highlight whether or not you want to be named in the FIR.

Registering Complaint Online

But, if you opt to stay home and file the complaint, here is a quick step by step guide to do so.

  1. Make a call from a registered phone number at 051-111-276-797 and register your report.
  2. A team of female Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors will visit you (in civil dress) at the site of the incident to verify the report.
  3. Upon verification, they file a written complaint, following which an FIR will be lodged.
  4. If you feel threatened to be named in the case, then you have the option to stay unnamed.
  5. In such cases, the case will be registered on behalf of the state.

Cantt ASP Amna Baig will head the unit whose first office has been established at the Women’s Police Station. A successful experiment will see fully independent harassment units in each division.
