Pakistan Exposes “International Conspiracy” Behind Abduction of Afghan Envoy’s Daughter

Once again, an attempt to malign the stature of Pakistan at the international level has been exposed as allegations of kidnapping and torture of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter have been turned out to be bogus. Pakistan is calling it yet another propaganda against its security network, a part of a larger international conspiracy.

Reports of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter being “abducted” and “tortured” began to surface on Saturday. A statement by the Afghan foreign ministry stated that the girl was “abducted for several hours” on Friday.

The hearsay scripted in Bollywood style was spread hours after Prime Minister Imran Khan hit back at Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s claims about Pakistan’s “negative role” in the Afghan peace process.

The story which alleged abduction, torture and release of Silsila Khan, the envoy’s daughter, spread like wildfire across the world. All international platforms were quick to report the “unfortunate” incident in which Silsila Khan was abducted for several hours by unknown individuals and “severely tortured”.

Indian governmental news agency ANI and diplomatic staff left no stone unturned in defaming Pakistan. The Indian ambassadors were asked to stay alert and “take extra security precautions”. Several verified Indian Twitter accounts jumped in to link the alleged incident with the ‘involvement’ of Pakistan in 9/11 and terrorism activities across the region.

India turned out to be the obvious beneficiary of the situation while Pakistan immediately launched investigations into the incident. Soon, it was revealed that the abduction was made up and just another episode of propaganda against Pakistan.

According to the details, Silsila Khan left the house against security protocols at her own will. She walked out of her residence, took a cab some distance to Khadda Market in Rawalpindi. She headed to Daman-i-Koh in a second cab and subsequently hired a third taxi from F-9 park.

The taxi drivers who drove the girl, are being interrogated and a first information report has been registered. However, the girl has refused to accept that she visited Rawalpindi.

Moreover, Silsila first claimed that her phone was stolen and later handed her phone over but with the data deleted. The photograph of an injured girl being used to gain sympathy and circulating on media does not belong to the Silsila Khan either.

There remains a blind spot in the investigations as the authorities have not been able to obtain the CCTV footage for some areas yet. The Afghan envoy has been called back although the investigations are still being carried out.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has confirmed that the abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter in Islamabad didn’t take place.

“There has been no kidnapping. I want to tell the entire nation, this is an international racket, an international conspiracy, this is the agenda of RAW. The Indian intelligence agency has propagated the impression of her abduction across the world,” said Sheikh Rashid.
