Massive: Amazon Adds Pakistan To Its Approved Selling Countries List

In a significant development for Pakistan’s e-commerce and digital industry, e-commerce giant Amazon has added Pakistan to its approved selling countries list.

The rumor was rife since last night when Saqib Azhar, the founder, and CEO of Enablers, Pakistan’s first Amazon FBA platform, broke the news. However, an official announcement did not come until today when Abdul Razak Dawood, the PM’s Adviser for Textile, Industry, and Production, and Investment, announced this in a tweet.

Dawood said that the world’s biggest e-commerce platform will include Pakistan to its Sellers’ List within a few days.

“We have been engaged with Amazon since last year and now it’s happening. It an excellent opportunity for our youth, SMEs, and women entrepreneurs.

He declared that an important milestone of the e-Commerce policy, which he was wasn’t possible without teamwork by many people across the globe.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Dr. Shahbaz Gil, credited the PTI government for this achievement.

Gil noted that Pakistan becoming an approved seller on Amazon should result in billions for the country in the form of investment and employment opportunities. This should also bring great export potential to the country since Pakistani sellers will now officially be able to register with their local details and sell products across the globe.

However, this also means that we have higher expectations to live up to now that we have been recognized on a major global platform. Local sellers will need to work hard to maintain the quality of their products in order to keep Pakistani products among the top choices for international buyers.
