Lahore Woman Arrested For Using Her Children For Drug Peddling

In a bizarre development, a Lahore woman has been arrested on suspicion of using two school-going minors to supply drugs in the city.

The arrest came on Monday after the Lahore Police acted on a tip-off and intercepted her while she was taking the children to school in a rickshaw. Upon search, the police found drugs in the schoolbags of two minors aged between eight and ten years. The police apprehended the mother and the rickshaw driver on charges of drug pedaling and transporting.

According to the police, the minors, studying in grades one and four, were unknowingly carrying a nine kilogram of drugs collectively. Their mother Shamim, a habitual and notorious drug peddler, supposedly use them, as they were the least suspected transporters.

Under the leadership of the new Inspector General Police (IGP), Inam Ghani, the Punjab Police has beefed up its action against drug peddlers, wine sellers, and those involved in immoral activities.

On the other hand, the federal government has also joined hands with the provincial government to take collective measures against the menace of drug trafficking. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Federal Minister for Narcotics Brig (retired), Ejaz Shah last month.

“The drug traffickers are the enemy of the whole humanity and indiscriminate crackdown will be continued against them”, the CM affirmed.

Usman Buzdar maintained that jail was the best place for those selling drugs outside educational institutions and action will be taken against them.
