Huda Al-Matroshi is one of the few women in the UAE to go into the car repair business these days. In the Arab world, the majority of men are in the field of car repair, but Huda Al-Matroushi has made history by going into this field.
According to the British news agency ‘Reuters’, Huda Al-Mutrushi was holding oil-stained gloves when she said;
“I have a lot of fun and this is my business. I belong to it and I feel proud of myself.”
36 years old Huda al-Matroushi told that she has been interested in cars since childhood. She likes cars, their models and details, sports cars, luxury, and even ordinary non-luxury cars grab her attention.
Huda Al-Mutrushi has turned her hobby into a profession and has her own car repair shop in Sharjah. She is one of the seven Emirati’s who dominates the car repair sector in the UAE.
According to Huda, her family had doubts about the car mechanics department, but Huda al-Matroushi asked her father to trust her.
“My father trusted me. Most people in my family were surprised because this project as this business is not easy for women,” she said.
“It was strange at first to see a woman in charge of the garage,” said Muhammad Halawani, one of Huda al-Mutrushi’s employees.
“But when we started working after joining my job, she would tell me to disassemble and assemble different parts which made it clear that she was experienced,” he said.
Huda al-Matrushi hopes to turn her garage into a major repair center or open more garages in the UAE.
A new law was enacted in the UAE last month, according to which at least one woman must be on the board of directors of companies in the UAE.
