American singing sensation Billie Eilish has revealed that she started watching pornographic material when she was only 11 years old. The singer admitted to regretting it now because it “destroyed” her brain.
Billie, who is now twenty years old, experienced nightmares and sleep paralysis after watching ‘exploitative porn’ at a very young age. She said that reflecting on her exposure to pornographic content now makes her feel devastated.
“As a woman, I think porn is a disgrace. I used to watch a lot of porn. I started watching porn when I was like 11. I think it destroyed my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn,” Billie said during a recent interview.
According to the “bad guy” artist, getting acquainted with pornography later impacted her own sexual experiences. Billie said she didn’t know how to say no to things that were not right because she thought she “was supposed to be attracted to them.”
Billie Eilish, who is a Grammy award winner, has spent most of her teenage years in the public eye. She is particularly known for wearing loose baggy-style clothing. Growing up, she has regularly talked about her body image and being sexualized for it.
During the interview, Eilish said that she now believes pornography is an insult and is “violent” and “exploitative.” Eilish specifically criticized the unrealistic way pornography portrays women’s bodies and sexual experiences. She also admitted that she watched porn because she thought it was “cool.”
“I was an advocate and I thought I was one of the guys and would talk about it and think I was really cool for not having a problem with it and not seeing why it was bad,” Eilish said.
Eilish continued to highlight that the real danger of exposure to pornographic material is the inability to understand important things during sex, including consent.
It is not the first time Billie Eilish has brought pornography into the discussion. Porn is referred to in Eilish’s song “Male Fantasy” on her newest album “Happier Than Ever” which was released earlier this year.
