In another unfortunate incident, a second flight attendant of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has gone missing in Canada within a matter of two days.
As per details, her absence was only noticed at the time of the scheduled return of the flight.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed that the airline has knowledge of the crew member’s disappearance and that it will launch a procedural investigation against her soon.
The spokesperson added that the Canadian Immigration Authority has been apprised about the occurrence as per the set rules.
Her mysterious disappearance has come just days after another flight attendant onboard an Islamabad-Toronto flight went missing after arriving in Canada. Ramzan Gul ‘disappeared’ after the PIA flight reached its destination on January 29.
On the back of these unfortunate incidents, the airline management has been compelled to introduce a new set of rules for its crew members traveling across the world.
The new SOPs sanctioned by the General Manager of PIA’s flight services, Aamir Bashir, will require crew members to submit their passports with a station manager after fulfilling immigration and customs formalities and will receive them when checking-in on departing flights.
Additionally, the hotel staff where the crew stays are to ensure that every member checks in at the hotel, and are bound to report missing members to the authorities.
