Kulsoom Hazara, An Inspirational woman who fought against all odds
We do not see many women taking sports as a profession in Pakistan. One thing that we fail to realize is that the support of parents is the main thing, which helps a sportsperson during their upbringing. When it is a sport like Karate, in which you have to fight with the opponent and need to be physically very fit, the need for someone to look after you increases even more.
Imagine a woman, who lost her mother when she was just 2-year-old. She lost her father when she was 9-year-old and only had her elder sisters to look after her. Her brother-in-law taught her Karate and was her coach, but after few years he was also killed in Karachi.
None of the tragedy and hurdle was able to be the reason behind Kulsoom’s vision to get blurred. She continued to excel in the Karate national championships all over the country.
Kulsoom Hazara now has won dozens of medals on national level and also reached podium many times in International competition. The wonder girl won gold medal for Pakistan in the South Asian Karate championship in 2017, which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has been winning medals in National championships for more than a decade now, which shows her dedication level
We live in a society where we have attached the genders with specific sports but here, we have Kulsoom who is an ultimate motivation for the next generation. Her story proves that hard work and being loyal to your goal always gives good results.
