Muniba Mazari is lovingly referred to as the Iron Lady of Pakistan. And for all the right reasons. Her journey is very hard yet full of motivation. For women like Muniba, No is not an answer. She knows what she wants, how she’ll get it and she will eventually get it done, all by herself. Here is a quick overview of how she fought biggest battles of her life and came out stronger!
Muniba got married at the age of 18 and then hit an accident that broke the bones but opened her eyes. Muniba belongs to a Pakhtoon Family where getting daughters married at a young age is more important than letting girls live their dreams. Same was the case with Mazari. She was living a happy life untill one day she met the harsh reality of this world.
A woman left by her husband on a hospital bed, with broken ribs and unbearable pain. Must be hard, right? She stayed in that hospital room for weeks, staring at white walls, knowing that she will be out of this room one day. The doctor told her that she is paralyzed and won’t be able to walk again. She accepted the reality with gratitude.
The next heartbreaking news was the fact that she can never be a mother. Yes, you heard it right. A woman struggling to live is now told that she cannot be a mother, how hard it would have been for her. It was hard, yet possible for her to accept another bitter reality, and guess what? She accepted this reality too. Little did she knew that her colorful dreams are shattered the day she had that eye-opening accident but Allah Pak has something better in store for her.
She requested her brother to bring her some colors so that she can get the frustration out of her in the most beautiful form. She painted while lying on her bed. She faced that reality with a stronger heart and make the best decision to accept herself!
If we quote Muniba’s word,
“…that day I decided that I’m going to live life for myself. I am not going to be that perfect person for someone. I am just going to take this moment and I will make it perfect for myself, that I’m going to fight my fears.” She began to live, for herself and women like her, and now she is known as one of the best women of history. Her motivational speeches are always inspiring. The social work she does while sitting on a wheelchair makes us think that if she can do much while sitting on a chair, what are we capable of! Not competing, but if we join her with all the good work, this world can be a happier place. All that it takes is some patience and good intentions.
Because she can’t give a birth, she adopted a kid and she is raising him with passion and love.
Having a perfect life is a myth but making a perfect life out of imperfection is what matters a lot! We need more women like Muniba Mazari. To know her story in her words, visit the link below where she talked about her painful journey with a face on her smile at:
