The Atlanta Braves have secured a place in the 2026 MLB postseason after defeating the Houston Astros 6–2 on Friday night.
The Braves sealed their playoff berth with a powerful offensive performance that included home runs from Michael Harris II, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson.
The victory gives Atlanta its eighth postseason appearance in nine seasons. The team missed the playoffs in 2025 after finishing the regular season with a 76–86 record.
Atlanta has remained near the top of the National League East for much of the 2026 campaign and now becomes the fifth team to officially secure a postseason spot.
The Braves are joined in the confirmed playoff field by the Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
Despite securing a postseason place, Atlanta has yet to determine its final playoff seed or whether it will finish the regular season as National League East champion.
The MLB postseason is scheduled to begin with the Wild Card Series on September 29, setting the stage for an increasingly competitive final stretch of the regular season.
For the Braves, Friday’s victory represented another significant milestone in a season that has now taken the club back to October baseball.
