Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has welcomed the Supreme Court’s order to shift PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, calling it a “ray of hope” and an interim relief.
Speaking to the media, Afridi alleged that Imran Khan and PTI had faced what he described as “oppression and fascism” since April 9, 2022. He said one decision was not enough and expressed hope that further relief would be provided through the judiciary.
On political dialogue, Afridi said PTI is a political force and has always believed in dialogue. He said the party would welcome meaningful talks aimed at improving Pakistan, provided personal interests were kept aside.
Afridi also endorsed Salman Akram Raja’s commitment that PTI workers would not gather around the hospital. He said the party wants Imran Khan to receive treatment peacefully and warned that anyone attempting to create unrest in the name of PTI would not be considered a genuine party worker.
Asked whether the September 27 long march would now be postponed, Afridi said the party leadership would sit together and take a joint decision before announcing its position.
