“Ghabrana nahi hai”: Twitter Account Of Pakistani Embassy In Serbia Hacked

The Twitter account of the Pakistani embassy in Serbia posted a couple of odd tweets on Friday criticizing the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan over soaring inflation. A 56-second mocking video was also shared from the verified social media accounts of the Pakistani embassy.

The tweets from the Twitter account are going viral on social media and users have expressed mixed reactions. Authorities, on the other hand, have confirmed that the Twitter account of the Pakistani embassy in Serbia was hacked. The official Twitter of the embassy alleged non-payment of salaries to the staff stating;

“With inflation breaking all previous records, how long do you expect @ImranKhanPTI that we [government] official will remain silent & keep working for you without been paid for past 3 months & our children been forced out of school due to non-payment of fees. Is this #NayaPakistan ?”

This was followed by another tweet saying, “I’m sorry @ImranKhanPTI, am not left with another option.” The hacker of the Pakistani embassy’s Twitter account also attached a video song in his post based on the famous phrase of Prime Minister Imran Khan, “Ap ne ghabarana nahi hai”.

The song was originally released on March 8, 2021, by Pakistani singer Saad Alvi on the YouTube channel. It immediately went viral for its comic mockery of the current government of Pakistan.

As the “official” tweets were released, the hashtag ‘Serbia’ started trending on Pakistan’s trend panel. Journalists and netizens jokingly shared the tweets asking what the official account of the Pakistani embassy in Serbia was up to. On the other hand, many criticized the author of the tweets for irresponsible behavior.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has, however, confirmed that the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts of the Pakistani embassy in Serbia were hacked. The tweets criticizing the government have been deleted while a clarification from the same Twitter handle of the embassy has also been posted.
