The Indian capital, New Delhi is called the ‘Rape Capital’ for a reason. Until September 2020, 1,241 rape cases were reported in Delhi as compared to 1,723 cases in the same period last year.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, India recorded an average of 87 rape cases every day in 2019 and more than 40,000 cases of crimes against women during the year.
The heart-wrenching incidents of using violence and rape as a tool of oppression against the women of Indian occupied Kashmir and of the Dalit community are no secret. And now, the country seems to export its worst trait to other countries.
Just recently the ringleader of a gang of Indians involved in raping and filming a minor in Afghanistan was arrested in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
According to Afghan police, they have arrested an Indian tourist ‘Deep Desai’ who raped a 15-year-old Afghan girl on December 28, 2020. Not only that, he and his accomplices filmed the heinous crime.
The culprit also threatened the girl with serious consequences if she opened up about the incident. The story opened up when the video went viral and came to the notice of one of the family members of the girl who reported it to the police.
The police said that teams from four police stations have been conducting raids to arrest other accused involved in the crime.
He said that the services of the Afghanistan Cyber Emergency Response team have been taken to prevent further circulation of the video.
This was not the first case where an Indian has stooped the lows of humanity. In 2016, an Indian Defense Attaché in Kabul, Brigadier SK Narain, was expelled from Afghanistan over charges of raping an Afghan girl who had approached the Indian Embassy to obtain a scholarship.
