The rural areas of Sindh, KP, and Balochistan are infamous for underage and forced marriages. In a similar incident, the nikah of a nine-year-old girl was forcibly performed with a much older man by an influential person.
The incident occurred at Samiputa in the Chondko area of Khairpur.
As per reports, the influential person, who happened to be the girl’s uncle, took the child bride’s father hostage and arranged the nikah. The father was tied with ropes, with guards pointing guns at him when the nikah ceremony was being performed.
Later, the aggrieved father approached the police, in search of justice and protection for his daughter, Shabiran. He informed the police of the incident and showed the bruises on his body.
According to the police, the accused is the elder brother of the complainant and the girl’s uncle. He is an influential personality with political connections.
As per the complaint, the accused, Bhawal Rajpar tortured him with his men and then took him hostage before managing the nikah of Shabiran with his son Azad Rajpar.
The police said that they have registered a complaint against the accused and will investigate the matter. However, no arrest has been made at the time of filing this story.
