PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai has warned that the party’s planned October 4 long march could turn bloody and urged the leadership to consider postponing it.
Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Yousafzai said the march should be postponed. He added that if the party decided not to postpone it, at least proper consultation should be held before proceeding.
Yousafzai said a “dangerous narrative” was being developed against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and claimed that there were efforts to build a case for banning the PTI.
He rejected the need to dissolve the provincial assembly, saying the party should not take a step that could benefit the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Yousafzai said he had already written a letter to the party leadership urging consultation over the long march. At the same time, he said the party’s preparations were complete and people would participate in the march.
Asked about the possibility of replacing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi with former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Yousafzai said only PTI founder Imran Khan could make such a decision.
He further said all political parties would have to sit together to address the issue of terrorism.
