ISLAMABAD: Authorities have decided to close 24 government educational institutions in Islamabad from September 22 amid security arrangements for planned long marches towards the federal capital.
According to sources, additional police personnel being deployed in Islamabad will be provided accommodation in government schools. As a result, educational activities at the affected institutions will remain suspended until further notice.
Sources said the Federal Directorate of Education has not yet announced any policy for online classes or alternative arrangements for students during the closure.
The decision comes as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami have announced long marches towards Islamabad. Containers have also been placed at several major roads in the capital as part of security arrangements.
