KP Governor Announces Week-Long Wheat Inquiry, Zero-Tolerance Policy on Encroachments

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced a province-wide campaign against illegal encroachments and ordered an inquiry into the wheat issue, with a report to be made public within a week.

Kundi visited Kohat Road in Peshawar to inspect an anti-encroachment operation. Officials from the Peshawar district administration and Peshawar Development Authority briefed him on the ongoing action.

The governor said the campaign against illegal encroachments would continue across Peshawar and the rest of the province, with no concessions for violators.

He urged people to remove illegal encroachments voluntarily and said action would be taken without discrimination, regardless of how influential those responsible were. He added that officials would be held accountable if illegal occupations or encroachments reappeared after removal.

Kundi also said a cleanliness campaign had been launched across the province. He added that authorities were working to address urban traffic problems and improve traffic regulations to ensure smoother movement.

Wheat Inquiry Report to Be Released Within a Week

The governor said he had ordered an inquiry into the wheat issue. He said the report would be prepared and presented to the public within one week, adding that further details would emerge once the findings were available.

Power and Gas Load-Shedding

Kundi said electricity and gas load-shedding issues would be taken up with the federal government. He said both sides would work together to find lasting solutions.

He added that issues involving the federal government, particularly electricity load-shedding, had previously been politicised. He said the focus would now be on practical steps to resolve public grievances through cooperation.

Call for Federal-Provincial Cooperation

The governor stressed the need to reduce differences between the federal and provincial governments and strengthen cooperation. He said the relevant stakeholders were now working together to address public issues.

Kundi also called for an end to electricity theft and the illegal use of power connections, commonly known as the kunda system. He urged citizens to cooperate with the government in tackling the problem.
