Punjab Inspector General of Police has said that no one will be allowed to engage in vandalism on September 27, and strict action will be taken against those who violate the law.

Speaking to the media outside the court, the Punjab IG said he wanted to clearly convey that the law would be enforced firmly against anyone involved in violations.

He said anyone planning to hold a protest on September 27 must obtain permission from the relevant Deputy Commissioner (DC).

The Punjab IG said he was not aware of anyone having submitted an application seeking permission for a protest.

He said no one would face discriminatory action and added that the police had an effective system of internal accountability.

The Punjab IG also rejected allegations of vandalism inside homes.

He said anyone who has a complaint about vandalism at their home should approach the police complaint cell.
